The focal point of the contents page is the picture in the centre of the page. It's the scale of the picture that attracts a response of the reader. In the picture the models are from the well known band Kasabian, they have used these models to excite the reader as they they are popular band many people would like to read about the article which they are in. The shot is a framed-point-of-view-long shot, they've used the audience as a frame at the bottom of the picture this is to get the feeling that you are actually there watching the band with the audience. The location of the set is in a church, this subverts the readers expectations as it's a bizarre location to host a music concert. they've used red lights pointing upwards onto the gothic architecture to show detailed it is, also the colour red has connotations of anger which has been related to the church in recent years.
The colours that they use, they use it all the way through the magazine as a house style. The colours that they use are contrasting colours

Double-page Spread Research

This double page spread is mostly taken up by a large picture of the Black Eyed Peas. The theme colours are gold, grey, black and white. This is represented in what the central figures are wearing. Will.I.Am. is made to look like the the centre character not only because he is central to the pages but also because of the way the other member of the band are made to look slightly transparent. Also the arcticle 'Will He Won't He?' next to the him gives the impression that he is the most important figure in the arctile by the use of the word 'he' rather than 'they'.
The gold arrows at the top of the text are the only thing that really tries to draw the readers attention away from the central picture. Personally I believe that the text becomes pretty unimportant because of the huge size of the image. The part in the middle of the text highlighted in bold is a better attempt to grab the readers attention but because of the size of the text it is still lost to the large picture.

The contents page also has a large picture at it’s centre which draws the viewer in and makes them want to read more. The pictures are numbered to give the reader a taster of what they can expect to find in the magazine. All the picture are in different sizes, I think the size is dependent on the importance of the article. The basic color scheme of black, red and white makes the readers attention more focused on the pictures. The regular articles are in the very corner of the page; this sort of creates the idea that the reader will know where to find them in the magazine and so the lack importance on the contents page. The bold black title of ‘DRUMMER’ also draws in the readers attention to the page and what it contains.

Contents Research!

The colour scheme for the contents page runs through the entire magazine, as black yellow and white, these colours contrast to make the magazine stand out; the majority of magazines colour scheme is red, black and white, by using the yellow they then deferencecate from other major magazines and are individual. They have put the pictures on the left of the page ; we read from left to right. The models in the pictures are members from well known bands from the rock music world, the editors have made the pictures bigger on how popular the bands are or which is the most important the article on the magazine. have sub-divided the page into main articles by pictures you instantly understand what the article is about.
