Newman's evaluation: Episode one

The Brand title 'Rock & Tumble' is a challenge to the conventions of the norm of music magazine titles. It does this by having a pun in the title, this then fills the reader with exsitment and wonder of how this is differnt to the norm of a serious music magazine. Another reason for using that colour ranges have connotations of the Rock/Indie genre, so when our target audience are looking for a Rock/ New music magazine they know what colours to look for when hey are interested in buying that magazine.

In other ways I have conformed to the media use's, such as in my magazine I have the colour scheme which is: red,white and black. I have taken this from the magazine 'Kerrang!'.(http://welovemediaoyea.blogspot.com/2010/01/blog-post.html). My magazine issue has challenged the conventions of the norm, as on the front cover on existing magazines there normally is a music artist with a coloured background, in my issue of Rock & Tumble I have challenged this by manipulating the model to be on a heart shape floating above the City of Manchester. I did this to provide joy to the reader as this is a bizarre picture as they have never seen anybody on a cloud above Manchester. The picture is to play on the Phrase 'He is on cloud nine' as a literal terms, I didn't specify this on the magazine as I thought that the target market were able to get the joke.
In the magazine i have used the conventional stuff of other magazines like bar codes and headlines etc. as these are crucial to the success of the magazine. Without bar codes there is no way for the shop assistant to price the item up for the consumer. Without headlines there is no insight into what will be in the magazine, another reason for the headlines being there is cause in-case loyal readers of the magazine don't like the main feature of the magazine, they can have a look at other articles.
